We needed a place to focus on characters not immediately featured in the four monthlies (although eventually the back-ups WILL feature some characters in the main series…more on that later!). This was our chance to "flesh out" World's End and reorient readers to some "classic" WildStorm personalities who've not been seen in several years—characters like John Lynch, Marc Slayton, Cybernary.

When the creative thinking began I knew Christos Gage had to be the guy to write them…and it took barely 30 seconds of explanation for him to readily agree. He's always up for a fun challenge (and he's proven quite exceptional at writing these four-page increments)! Then came the artists. We agreed from the get-go that we wanted to try and reach out to artists who, for whatever reason, couldn't commit to doing more than 16 pages for us and wanted to try and tap names that weren't that associated with the WildStorm Universe, to bring unique new voices into the fold. They just happened to be some of more talented people working today.
