SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT!
Synopsis:
Void is sitting in a room on the top floor of the Halo Building in a dreamlike state, scanning the globe with her mind, attempting to find a special "gifted one" (Voodoo) needed for the coming conflict. Void not only scans the present (Wildstorm Universe Year 1992) but the past and future as well. In the past she sees her supposed death as Space Station Mir is knocked out of orbit and crashes on Earth's surface. Void screams, causing Jacob Marlowe (Lord Emp) and Spartan to come running. They discuss what she has just seen as well as their preparations for conflict with the Cabal. Void also explains that all her visions have something in common; they all involve an orb of fantastic power that must not fall into the wrong hands.

Just then Jacob Marlowe is contacted by Julie (his secretary), telling him that The Gnome has just contacted her stating that one of his subordinates will meet Marlowe at a restaurant. After he leaves, Void and Spartan are left wondering if they're ready to face them.

At the restaurant, Marlowe is given a disk storing the location he is to meet the Gnome. After spending a night on the town, Marlowe winds up passing out drunk in an alley (this scene is a rather minuscule crossover with Cyberforce Vol. #1). The next morning, Spartan and Void are having another conversation about the Cabal and the Gifted Ones when they are alerted by Julie that Marlowe has just returned to the Halo Building. Spartan suddenly realizes that he was supposed to lead Maul and Warblade through a combat training session before Marlow got back. Void teleports him to the training room so they can begin the session. Maul and Warblade perform flawlessly so Spartan decides to go see Marlowe, telling Maul and Warblade to stay put. As soon as he leaves the two "Gifted Ones" started running their mouths and eventually get in a fight.

Elsewhere, The Gnome is selling a rare and powerful orb to Alberto Cassini, a crooked businessman in league with the Cabal. In exchange, the Gnome receives the information he has promised to give Marlow--that the "special Gifted One" is at a strip club in Georgetown not far away. Just then, the rogue Coda assassin Zealot and her partner The Grifter attack the agents of the Cabal. So that one of them can get to the strip club before the Cabal does, Zealot throws Grifter through a large opening in the wall and proceeds to take on the goons by herself. Grifter manages to make it to the strip club in question which just so happens to be the same bar he hung out at during the Cold War, the place where Zealot originally found him.

In the dressing room at the strip club, a young gorgeous woman has just put on a stripper costume called "The Voodoo." She is nervous due to this being her first night working here, but she feels confident with her future.

Continuity:
  • In one scene, a group of armored men are on the trail of someone named Velocity. This is a reference to Carin Taylor, a young super-speedster. These events take place concurrently with events from CyberForce v.1 #1.

Publishing:
  • This issue was originally released with the WildC.A.T.s Compendium collection as an exclusive bonus, though it can now be found as a single in most comic store back issue bins.

Next Issue: WildC.A.T.s #1
