SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT
Bio:
The Eidolon is a human who was not allowed to fully die. For a few minutes, he walked the regions between life and death and found nothing. He returned determined to spread the message that we are alone: There is no God and faith is meaningless. The Eidolon made it his task to punish those who would make life hell and those who would take away a fellow human's one and only life. He appears to have targeted religious groups particularly.

StormWatch
In the late 1990s, The Eidolon joined an underground group of superpowered beings (SPBs) known as the Changers. Led by John Cumberland (The High), this group planned to revolutionise human society by removing governments and laws and by providing free food, shelter, medicine, etc. to all the peoples of the Earth. The Changers' Doctor and Engineer promised The Eidolon that they would find a way that he might finally die and be put to rest. The Changers were defeated by Stormwatch and The Eidolon apparently killed by a former member of the Changers, Rose Tattoo.

Number of the Beast
Recently it was shown that The Eidolon hadn't really (permanently) died. Instead, he was one of the two Changers to have survived Stormwatch's attack (the other being The High) and was placed in a special virtual reality environment along with at least 666 other former SPBs that disappeared during WW2. For a long time the other heroes and villains believed the city they lived in to be real, but The Eidolon always knew it was artificial. He tried to warn them but they just thought he was crazy. When The High's body (what was left of it) was put into the virtual city though, Eidolon was able to get him to figure out what was going on and free the others.

World's End
After the end of the world, The Eidolon leads an enormous group called The Army of the Mad. Most, if not all, of his army is made up of criminals of the worst kind and they go around terrorizing everyone they can find under his orders. He led an assault on the Carrier but was chased off by the combined efforts of the Authority & StormWatch.
