Every few millions years, the Vigil converge on The Gathering, where all of their acquired knowledge is downloaded into their home planet. The events of Coup D'Etat were precipitated by the American government's disruption of their latest Gathering.

• The Voyagers (Authority Vol 2 #3): A psionic species who exist on an intellectual and philosophical plane higher than the human raace. They travel the multiverse, merging with primitive species, improving the nature of existence.
• The Weavers: Souls of dead humans that have been given the task to safeguard the multiverse. They often appear as spiders or half spider/half humans. They give information to the humans they work with, but don't seem to act themselves in any way.
