Edison was the foremost technologist of the early 20th Century. He worked with Dr. Axel Brass and Hark to build the world's first supercomputer. It was room-sized, and capable of mapping the entirety of the multiverse as a snowflake with 196,833 dimensions. The computer would create and destroy Earths, looking for the answers to unimaginably complex problems. By activating the computer, however, a portal into The Bleed was opened, and a group of metahumans came through, determined to save their world by destroying Edison's. Edison and most of his teammates died stopping them.

Jimmy's history is unknown. What is known is that he worked for the US government, running secret missions that were hidden from the rest of the world. He worked with the other adventurers from that time, including Axel Brass and the Dark Millionaire. Jimmy died in the group's Adirondack headquarters in 1945, saving the world from invaders from an alternate Earth.
