There was just something special for me about the original Kindred mini-series. First of all, I loved Brett Booth's art. I already loved Grifter by this point but I think this was the story that got me liking Backlash too. I didn't see his first appearance in Stormwatch and later when I did, it wasn't as impressive as it was here. If I'm not mistaken, this is one of the first (if not the first) time Team 7 is mentioned and also shown in flashbacks. Team 7 went on to become another of my favorites in the WSU. I also remember them introducing "The Rush" in this story which is when the Team 7 members use their abilities unleashing great power, but also hurting them at the same time. It's a concept that in my opinion hasn't been explored enough since.
The Kindred II wasn't as memorable unfortunately. But it was still a fun adventure. But nothing will ever beat the original. |
