A new generation of adventure begins as superstar writer Gail Simone (Birds of Prey, Villains United) and artists Talent Caldwell & Matt "Batt" Banning (Wildcats: Nemesis) join forces to reimagine the classic WildStorm teen team! The life of a teenager can be a strange enough experience, but when super-powers are added to the mix things get a whole lot more confusing in a hurry! Meet Caitlin, Sarah, Roxy, Bobby, and Eddie - outcast teenagers from different parts of the country who quickly learn they all have something in common: abilities far beyond those of their classmates! But what's the secret to these wonderful and scary powers, and what role do the nefarious Tabula Rasa and International Operations play?

SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT!
Synopsis
The comic starts with a teenage couple parked in a secluded area. Unbeknown to them, the car is loaded with cameras and their actions are part of a web-cast hosted by Tabula Rasa and a few of their high end clients. In the car, the male in the car is trying to talk the female with him into having sex. When a wives's tale and beer fail, he attempts force. At this time, the female's powers manifest and the male is killed. The reaction of the clients watching the web-cam is mixed. Troops enter the scene and the female shot and killed.

The next few pages focus on the lives of main characters in different parts of the country:
  • Fairchild - Living in Portland, Oregon, gets her glasses broke and her face bruised in dodge ball as a scrawny kid. She is met at the door by a sympathetic mother.
  • Bobby Lane - Gets beaten up by a group of thugs who mock his appearance in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
  • Eddie Chang - Unsuccessfully tries to impress a girl with his skateboard antics in Seattle, Washington.
  • Roxy - In San Antonio, Texas being bailed out of jail by her angry single mother for shoplifting cigarettes.
  • Sarah - Picking up some books from a coffee shop in Peirdot, Arizona. During this time, she has to deal with prejudiced comments about her sexuality and race.

Meanwhile, back at Tabula Rasa, Dr. Cross decides that it's time to activate the teenagers, and determines that they need to become orphans. Back in their individual homes, the teenagers wake up in uniforms with extreme headaches (except for Eddie, who is snoring on the couch).

The reactions are as follows:
  • Fairchild - Her mother decides to go to I.O. and get reassigned. As soon as the door opens and both her parents are shot in the head in front of her. When the troops come in to capture her, she punches them through a wall and then goes outside and smashes a car demanding who is responsible for what has just happened. This commotion has also attracted the attention of the local Police Department.
  • Roxy - Her Mother takes out a gun and overturns the couch. Before the troops come in, her mother apologizes for the abusive treatment, and tells Roxy she wishes Roxy was her real daughter. Next, her mother orders Roxy to run while she fires at the troops coming in.
  • Eddie - After a short debate, his parents decide to flee to prevent being killed. When the troops come into the house, Eddie is fighting them while his parents are being tracked by the license number of their motor vehicle.
  • Sarah - Enters the Living Room to find her parents on the couch, having consumed champagne laced with rat poison. She is arrested by the troops and takes a good look at the eyes of one of them so she can remember him later.
  • Bobby Lane - Comes into the Living Room with his Foster Mother warning him to run before she is shot. When the troops enter, his powers activate and causes the house to be set aflame.
Dr. Cross eventually orders the teens to be Rendered unto Seizure. At this time, all of the teens are knocked unconscious by an unseen force.
Later, all of the kids are placed into a holding tank (Belly of the Beast). When Fairchild tries to get some information, Sarah insults her, Eddie tries to defend Fairchild and Bobby insults Eddie. Roxy tells everybody to shut up, still traumatized by her mother's remarks. Fairchild comes over and consoles Roxy with a hug, which evolves into a group hug.
