The kids, tired and hungry, seek an escape from the horrors of a post-apocalyptic America in possibly the most American place of all: a mall! Will they find anything of substance in the looted halls? And what terror could possibly await them in a shopping center in the barren wastelands of a dead world?

Christos Gage and Pete Woods continue their Cybernary backup tale with part 3 in this issue.


SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT!
Synopsis:
The Gen 13 kids make it to an abandoned shopping mall. They try to find food but have no luck. Caitlin decides that they should take the time to find fresh clothes in some of the stores. Caitlin and Sarah find themselves alone in one clothing store. Sarah sees a mannequin that looks like her ex-girlfriend Jenny and decides to make a move on Caitlin. Caitlin rejects her and an upset Sarah goes running out into the mall.

Elsewhere, a woman named Kachina sees the distraught Sarah in a vision. It is revealed she has Mago of The Paladins held captive and is trying to force him to reveal all his magic secrets. When he refuses she tells him that she will capture Sarah and replace Mago with her. She thinks Sarah can help her and her people weather the "Earthstorm" that she says Mago and his kind wrought on the world.

Caitlin chases down Sarah and tries to apologize. At the entrance to the mall, the girls see a crowd of people outside. Despite Sarah's protests, Caitlin lets them inside.

Grunge and Bobby continue to look for clothes while Roxy grows impatient. When the guys are finally ready, they head out to find Caitlin and Sarah. Grunge leaves the two to get some sweet stuff to eat as Roxy and Bobby reach Caitlin, Sarah, and the host of new people in the mall. Bobby realizes that he can see the heat signature of each person now.

Meanwhile, the child Megan and Dr. Cross (now a toddler) survive an encounter with a biker gang. Megan uses her spikes ability while the toddler Dr. Cross uses a ray gun to dispatch of the bikers.

At the mall, Roxy makes friends with a guy named Dominic when he lights up a cigarette-something Roxy has been craving for sometime now. Dominic and Roxy head into a hair salon where Dominic proceeds to bludgeon Roxy over the head with a hair dryer.

Grunge reaches the candy store and finds a few remnants of some candy. He plans to use his ability and turn himself into candy in order to cheer Roxy up. Unfortunately for Grunge, a horde of rats has found him just as he turns himself into candy.


"Father Knows Best-Part 3"
Kaizen Gamorra and Cybernary watch as The Reapers descend upon Gamorra Island. Kaizen orders a force field activated that surrounds the entire island. A handful of Reapers make it through but the rest are destroyed as they fly into the force field. Cybernary asks her father how he knew about all this. Kaizen tells her how Internal Operations once captured him and replaced him with an impostor. While in captivity, he saw The Reapers being created under the direction of Miles Craven. Kaizen chose to create his own living weapons in response to what he knew as being done by I.O. He also tells her that he manipulated her so that she would be safe within the confines of the island when the end of the world came. As The Reapers who made it through the force field invade his office, Kaizen asks Cybernary if she will help him fight them or die.
