Synopsis:

"Deflie: A Narrow Pass-Part One: Rapier"
(Editor's note: This story takes place before Wildcats: World's End #6)
Lord Defile sits on his throne of bones, deep below New York, musing about the end of the world. Suddenly, he senses something that enrages him. He says 'Rapier' is coming and he will seize the Earth and take it for Daemon. His servants think this is good but Defile tells them that no one, not man or Daemon, will stand in the way of his dominion over the Earth.

"Defile: A Narrow Pass-Part Two: Bones"
Lord Defile prepares for the coming of Rapier, a powerful Daemonite sorcerer, to Earth. Rapier shows up but is in the body of a young skate-boarder. Defile is not amused by Rapier's attempts at humor, and grabs his hand. Defile breaks Rapier's hand telling him that Earth is not a viable Daemonite colony and it belongs to him. Rapier uses his magic to embed Defile in the ground in front him. With only his head still exposed, Defile threatens to destroy Rapier. But Rapier uses his magic and suddenly...

...Defile is back in his underground lair just as before, waking and yelling out Rapier's name. He deduces that Rapier must have channeled massive energies to open a portal between Daemon and Earth. Defile decides that he too will need a source of enormous power in order to defeat Rapier.

"Defile: A Narrow Pass- Part Three: Flight"
Rapier, Lord Prime Sorcerer of Daemon, has come to Earth to assess if it's viable for Daemonite colonization now that it is in ruins. Lord Defile intents to prevent him from doing so but in order to accomplish this, he needs a source of great power.

He travels to Ellis Island believing that there is an object there connected to the torrent of emotional energies released there. While walking up the stairs of separation, Defile muses about the twelve million lost souls (referring to the immigrants) that stood in terror in that spot all those years ago. He then proceeds to break off a piece of the banister claiming it will do and looks towards New York, ready to confront Rapier.

"Defile: A Narrow Pass-Part Four: To Boldly Go"
Lord Defile takes the artifact he got at Ellis Island and goes to where Rapier is hiding out. After taking out some of his henchmen, Defile proceeds to use the artifact against Rapier. He tells Rapier that he will do whatever he must to keep him from bringing a Daemonite force to Earth. He tells Rapier that Earth has been his for a millennium and he will not give it up.

But Rapier reveals to Defile that he didn't open a portal between Daemon and Earth...at least not until now. He needed an anchor in order to do it and he used Defile's mind as that anchor. Realizing he's been used , Defile threatens to kill Rapier but Rapier uses his Daemonite magic once again and...

...Lord Defile wakes up in his subterranean lair. But he remembers what Rapier did and vows to be ready for Rapier and his Daemonite forces.
