Synopsis:
Marc Slayton and
Diane LaSalle are staying in a remote cabin loaned to them by
Jacob Marlowe (Emp of the
WildCATs). Backlash is training with droids also supplied by Emp, because he's worried about the failure of his powers last during their last battle and wants to hone his natural skills. Diane is working on rehabilitating her legs after coming out of the coma. Over dinner, Marc proposes marriage to Diane, but she's not happy with how he went outside the law to save her, and she's also suspicious of
Taboo. Marc confesses to an affair with Taboo, and so Diane decides to leave and return to active duty with
Stormwatch.
Taboo is at a roadside stop where she tried to call Slayton at the cabin but got no answer (Diane received the message but did nothing about it). Someone has been following her for days and she wanted Backlash's help. She is attacked by
The Chasers. The team is made up of
Brawl,
Homicide, Recoil, and
Gaze. Taboo manages to take out three of them, but then she's knocked cold by Brawl.
An unnamed
Kindred is driving through the Australian Outback to visit the grave of the one he calls Father. Through flashback, we see that as a youth
Dingo and another of his kind were stolen from a lab and were raised to be assassins. His friend is killed, but an aboriginal witchdoctor rescues Dingo and raises him as his own, calling him Madinga. It turns out that Dingo is visiting the grave because he is about to leave with some stranger who says there is an island named Caballito where more of Dingo's kind can be found. He is determined to find answers about his past.
Notes:
- This issue marks the first appearance of Dingo.
