SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT
Synopsis:
It turns out the package Grifter picked up from Cyberjack's was a super turbine for his bullet bike. He talks with Jodi and Amanda as he installs it, and Jodi seems to have a crush on him. Then he finds out that Jodi's father is Marc Slayton, his old teammate turned rival. They then direct him into town where he can get something to eat.

Meanwhile, Marc is at Sam's Bar in Beetle Creek, Colorado, brooding on Diane's death. A group of local thugs comes in and eventually Marc gets in a fight with them. He makes short work of them until their leader, Beck, transforms into a giant reptilian humanoid. Grifter arrives just in time to see Backlash hurled out of the bar by Beck. Beck grabs Grifter's bullet bike to use as a weapon, so Grifter lights him up with a few rounds from his VAD-PP30s. Beck doesn't seem very hurt and attacks Grifter, who retreats down the street.

Backlash is surprised to see Grifter, but he heads off to help. Beck swats Grifter's guns away and they go flying into a house. Backlash arrives and keeps Beck busy. In a humorous moment, Grifter goes into the house to retrieve his VADs and the old woman living there thinks he is a member of StormWatch. She asks if he is Cannon or Flashpoint, and he says he's Condition Red (the codename of his estranged brother Max Cash). He then returns to the battle where they finally defeat Beck by electrocuting him. Backlash wants to know why Grifter is there, and he says he's just picking up a package from CyberJack on his way to see Cray (see Deathblow #24).

In Gamorra, Cyberjack wakes up to see Deathtrap looming over him. He grabs a gun and blasts Deathtrap. Then he notices that his face and legs have been healed. It turns out Kaizen Gamorra used Jack's own technology to perform surgery on him and fix his old wounds. Kaizen is there with an unnamed superhuman, as well as the destroyed BSE (Bio-Synthetic Entity) version of Deathtrap which Kaizen had sent in as a test. Kaizen tells Jack that tomorrow he will complete the projects he abandoned.
