Synopsis:
Cyberjack is flying off to
Gamorra. As he leaves, he reveals that Backlash's ex-girlfriend
Diane LaSalle has died (in
Deathblow #23). He also says that an old friend will be coming by to pick up a package, and that when he gets back he will run tests to find out why Backlash collapsed earlier during their battle with
Lilitu. Marc is despondent over Diane's death.
Jodi and
Amanda try to cheer him up, but eventually he jumps in the car and takes off.
Meanwhile, Cyberjack meets his old friend Makoto in Gamorra. Makoto takes him to an underground facility where he shows that he has taken up Jack's old research with cyber-technology and improved on it. It seems Jack was employed by Gamorra at some point in the past but left before his work was finished because it was going to be used to make biological weapons.
Then
Kaizen Gamorra shows up with
Deathtrap and
Hellslayer of
the Mercs in tow, as well as some hunter-killer droids. Kaizen reveals that Jack was tricked into coming because his DNA is needed to complete the project. Jack refuses to cooperate and a fight begins. Jack helped to design the
H.K. programming, so he reprograms one of them to attack Kaizen. The Mercs stop it, but meanwhile Jack sneaks around and gets the drop on Kaizen. He has a gun to Kaizen's head when his old friend Makoto strikes him on the back of the head, knocking him out.
Back at the safehouse, it's getting late and Amanda and Jodi are worried about Marc because he hasn't come back. There's a knock at the door and it turns out to be
Grifter of the
WildC.A.T.s, here to pick up a package left for him by Cyberjack.
